The area to the south of the Montagna Grande is dotted with Favaras of every dimension. Their queen, the "Favara Grande" (Big favara) is one of the most magnificent sights on the whole ridge.
It evaporates from a crack in the ground that towers 800m above the landscape beneath, immersed in silence, far from any man made building to distract you from the mythical view. The mouth of the Favara is covered with branches on which water condenses and falls in trickles of water. From close up the Favara reminds you of a multicoloured and picturesque Nativity creche.
